As program manager of Southern Company's IT quality management and compliance office, Christine Parsons is responsible for strategic portfolio management, business and workforce planning and resource management.
She is also responsible for all aspects of the assessment, development and monitoring of IT controls to assure compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and other compliance requirements. Within the program management office, Parsons oversees the IT business excellence team, project office and quality management office.
Parsons began her career with Southern Company in 1981 in the engineering organization. Most recently, she was manager of information and technology strategies, responsible for the ongoing development, implementation and oversight of Southern Company's strategic information technology plan.
Parsons has professional experience teaching at the college and corporate levels and has spent several years as a research physicist in the field of air pollution control. She holds a bachelor's degree in applied physics from Appalachian State University in Boone, NC, and a master's degree in computer and information science from the University of Alabama . She has been active in professional mentoring programs, as both a mentee in the inaugural Georgia 100 program and as a mentor in Southern Company's mentoring programs. She also is active in the Technology Association of Georgia, its Women in Technology special interest group, and a member of GlobalEXECWomen and the PMO Executive Council.
She and her husband Steve have two children: Patrick and Camille.
